Professor Pumpernickel Launches Super Summer - FREE Event

Festival of Archaeology FREE

Join us to celebrate the CBA Festival of Archaeology and handle real artefacts from Tripontium and have a go at creating your own myths.

Aardman Model Making Workshops

Join Aardman Animations as they show you how to make your very own character. Choose from Gromit, Shaun or Morph.
Aardman Animations are giving you the chance to learn how to make your very own Aardman character at these fun, hands-on clay modelling workshops. Led by one of their expert model makers, you’ll also get the opportunity to ask questions about the tricks of the trade from the Aardman studio.
Workshops are an hour long and aimed at children aged 6 and above. Grown-ups do not need to purchase a ticket unless they want to make a character too!

This session is primarily for neurodivergent children and adults, and any other visitors with sensory needs who prefer a more relaxed experience, plus their families, friends, and carers. Come along to explore the gallery and take part in a creative activity.

Summer Camp for budding artists
Inspired by the current KAPOW exhibition - which explores the art of making comics and film, children will learn about the history of comic book style art (graphic storytelling), explore design, colour and text , and experiment with drawing using different techniques and materials.
Over the four days, these drawings will form the beginnings of sketchbooks which will evolve to create a painting in acrylics that will be displayed as part of an art exhibition in the foyer of the Art Gallery and Museum.
