Looking for a science club that’s more than just slime and safety goggles? This summer, STEM Goes Wild bringing an electrifying mix of experiments, investigations, and creative engineering

A feast of Maytime merriment. Get creative in our fabulous workshops and enjoy exploring the galleries with the traditional treasure hunt. Can you find all the mini statues of local heroes that are hidden around the building?


Open-ended Toddler Play
A stay & play session for the under 5s. These sessions invite your toddler to discover, learn and explore.
Saturday 1 April
10am - 11am and 11.15am - 12.15pm
£2.50 per child, adults are free but must book a place.

Animal Antics Family Yoga Play
A family yoga session in the gallery space.
Monday 3 April
10am-10.45am – suitable for 2.5-6 years

Relaxed Sessions
Monday 3 April 2.30pm-3.30pmThese sessions are primarily for neurodivergent children and adults, and any other visitors with sensory needs who prefer a more relaxed experience, plus their families, friends, and carers. Come along to explore the gallery and take part in a creative activity.

Day 1: Chemical Reactions and Slime Lab
- Mix your own batches of slime, then crank up the energy with Elephant Toothpaste eruptions
- Investigate acids and bases, text everyday substances, and learn why chemical reactions matter (and EXPLODE!).
- You'll measure, mix and record results jult like a real lab scientists - yes, goggles are involved.

Day 2: CSI Rugby
- Step into a forensic lab and solve a mystery
- Extract DNA from strawberries
- Lift fingerprints from a crime scene
- Learn how real forensic scientists work, and build your case with evidence.

Day 3: DIY Electronic Games
- Build your own working buzzer game, wire maze, or reaction test board - and take it home.
- Explore how circuits, switches, transistors and resistors work while making your own functional STEM toy.
- You'll use real components: wires, battery packs, motors and creativity.

Day 4: Natural Disasters and Pocket Monsters
- Build a working volcano model and simulate eruptions.
- Use Pokémon-style field cards to explore disaster zones and plan survival strategies.
- Lift fingerprints from a crime scene
- Create lightning with a Van de Graaff generator, test wind strength, and learn what nature throws at us - and how to fight back.
This isn't just a science club - it's four days of full on discovery

Mindful pottery workshop

Join us for a workshop tailored for ages 12 and older, where you can craft your very own air-dry clay pot. Enjoy the soothing advantages of working with clay in a motivating atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from the Beyond the Canvas exhibition, you'll design your own distinctive pinch or coiled pot, ready to take home to dry and paint.
Junk Model Masterpieces

Craft your own junk model masterpiece. Utilise an assortment of recycled materials to design a one-of-a-kind monochrome sculpture that draws inspiration from our exhibition, Beyond the Canvas.

Sensory dough sculptures

Participants will explore their senses while creating a dough sculpture to take home. Using colourful, scented dough, you can mould, shape, and add decorations during this engaging sensory experience.

Coming for May Half Term
For our May half-term hunt we're asking you to find the animals who have escaped from the art collection and hidden themselves around the building! Our drop-in hunts are free. Also on offer to keep the kids busy we have a programme of bookable fun activities. May half-term booking to go live in coming days.

Join Louise and Rene, her assistance dog, in a short introduction to the Guide Dogs charity.
Louise will demonstrate how Rene assists her in her daily life and will talk about The mission of the Guide Dogs society which is to ensure that no one living with sight loss is left out of life!
