Members of Rugby Men and Women in Sheds attend weekly workshops at the project's headquarters - a shed behind the Claremont Centre accessed via Bath Street.

Originally based on Age UK's nationwide Men in Sheds campaign to create social spaces for men to come together, make friends and share skills, the project in Rugby now runs a weekly workshop for women in addition to the weekly workshop for men.

Mainly working with reclaimed wood, the members have created a world of woodcraft at the Little Elborow Street venue's community space for visitors to explore, including birdboxes, a bird table, carved creatures, a Christmas tree and Santa Claus, complete with his sleigh pulled by reindeers.

Rugby Men and Women in Sheds runs a weekly workshop for men on Mondays from 10am to 3pm and a weekly workshop for women on Wednesdays from 10am to 3pm.

Cllr Maggie O'Rourke, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for partnerships and wellbeing, said: "Men and Women in Sheds projects have become hugely popular across the country, bringing people together to share skills, socialise and create.

"We're delighted to have brought the Rugby project's work from the shed to the art gallery and museum's community space to share with a wider audience."

Cllr Neil Sandison, Rugby Borough Council's Liberal Democrat group spokesperson for partnerships and wellbeing, said: "I have long admired the quality of the workmanship of this project at the Rugby Eco Hub.

"They produce a diverse range of stock, from garden troughs and artworks to bird feeders and Christmas decorations, and it's well worth residents taking the time to visit and purchase these handmade gifts."

The Men and Women in Sheds' display runs at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum until Sunday (30 November).
